needs volunteers to help with specialty summer camps for children age 5-15. Camps run from June 28-August 6. Each lasts 1-2 weeks. Some themes include karate, soccer, mountain biking, gymnastics, and high ropes. Camp instructors must have experience in the area they lead. Other volunteers may help with field trips and child care. Minimum age: rising high-school senior.

A Healthy Start needs volunteers to:

(E) Help girls ages 8-18 in the Tuesday and Thursday evening evening programs, which include health education, self-esteem programs, aerobics, a walking program, and double-dutch jump rope. Minimum age 19.

(F) Chaperone trips and evenings out. Lodging and admission reimbursed if required. Minimum age 18.

(F) Volunteer mentors for girls ages 9 to 15. Mentors contact their match at least once a week and spend as much time together as possible sharing fun and interesting activities and providing guidance. Training provided.

(F) Anti-Violence Committee of the Triad needs volunteers to present anti-violence programs at day care centers schools, nursing homes, churches, and other locations. Agency will also plan special events in the coming year including a silent auction and yard sale.

Program Assistant: Help the program director with special camps and activities.

Special Events: Help with all aspects of special events such as Make-Believe Ball, Holiday HO HO HO-down, Ghoulash!, and traveling exhibits. Work includes set up and tear down, arts and crafts activities, face painting, and temporary tattooing.

Community Outreach: Participate in various programs including Fun Fourth, the Jaycees Holiday Parade, Eastern Music Festival Ice Cream Festival, and Children's Health Fair at UNCG.

Exhibit Educator: Assist museum patrons in different areas such as the grocery store, doctor's office, transportation center, and more.

Junior Volunteers: Teens from 12-18 needed to work with young children at day camps or special events. Requires interview and orientation. Four-hour shifts weekdays or weekends.

Junior Achievement matches volunteers with a class, provides lesson plans and classroom materials for hands-on activities, and trains. Volunteers work directly with classroom teachers to schedule times. Volunteers commit to one hour a week for five to ten weeks.

Supervise children, read stories, play music, organize arts and crafts activities. Escort children to the restroom, change diapers, feed infants. Must respect and appreciate children of diverse backgrounds and be able to work with special needs children. Training provided. Must have high school diploma or GED. Minimum age 18.
